Which is quicker around Cadwell Park, car or bike? We pit the new M5 against BMW’s hottest superbike to find out Full story here: www.autoexpress.co.uk A car as special as the new BMW M5 requires a test drive with a difference. So with that in mind we took it along to Cadwell Park’s wet track to see how it compares to BMW’s fastest super bike to see which is fastest. The new M5 is powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8, producing 552bhp and a 0-60mph time of 4.4 seconds. And we’ve already decided it’s a five-star car. But with a starting price of £12250, the BMW S1000RR is a fraction of the M5′s £73k price tag. It has a dry weight of just 178kg and produces 193bhp from its 999cc engine – that’s a terrifying 925bhp per tonne — can go from 0-60mph in just 2.9 seconds and has a top speed of 190mph. In other words, it’s very, very fast. Watch the video to find out which one wins. Read our first drive of the BMW M5: www.autoexpress.co.uk

We sure live on a? beautiful planet
@Darren950 Well? said
Joe, If sometime in the future you suffer from an “obscene amount of wind”, chamomile or peppermint are recognised cures.? Safe riding dude.
BMW and? aurora borealis
awesome!
BMW for LIFE!!!!?
the tires? were TKC80s with Aerostitch self tapping studs
I’m more interested in what tyres the bikes were? on
That dude didnt have any controle over the car. He could easily wind like 20 seconds on the bike. As much in wet as in dry conditions. No bike could EVER keep up to a racecar on? a track.
A car is breaking so much later and can corner so much faster
STUPID RACE?
gay british? shows always testing on wet tracks. wtf is the point? not to mention the host is quite a big idiot.
“Now it’s going to be very tricky for the bike here, he? needs to make sure he doesn’t lose the front end….”
No shit buddy.
Both of these vehicles are amazing.
My neighbor is such a rich motherfucker he has an e60 M5 all black on black as a daily driver. As well as two!? BMW S1000RR bikes. AND a lifted 3500 Ram MegaCab 4×4 to tow them around in. Their all so fucking cool
The wet conditions aren’t the natural for the bike.If it was dry the bike wouldn’t have need of 10 seconds? head start.Everyone knows that the bike have more potencial from the car.But I like the BMW too
what kind? of race is this? D: he’s not wearing a seatbelt :/
I found it pretty interesting. Rider was by no means incompetent. But he doesn’t want to crash. Sure it would have been different on a dry track, but wet, leaf- and gravel-strewn pavement is a real world condition. That’s why they spotted the bike 10 seconds. I’m a bike guy all the way, but let’s face it: sometimes the car wins. There’s no shame in that for the bike or the rider. For the same reason, the bikers shdn’t gloat? too much when they beat the car in conditions that favour them.

hah ha !
?
wet track always bad for bike? than car.
0-60 mph: 3.7? sec
WTF…this sucks. I mean, I love BMW, both cars and motocycles (I even own one two-wheeled
), but this is not a race. Try it again on dry tarmac. S1000RR will end? with huge advantage…
anyone else think those cheap looking side engine slats look? totally shite?
178kg on 193bhp? means 925bhp per tonne… yeah right you stupid ****
completely unfair test! the bike? is working in the worst conditions possible so there is no wonder the car caught up with it, i would love to see that done again on a summers day then the bike would take a crap on the car.
the m driver sucked?
