An interview with Dr. Friedrich Nitschke, President of BMW M GmbH. He’s giving a review for the successful year 2011 and will give preview of BMW M for 2012.

  2. The M line has gone to hell.
    Cars like the E30 M3, E34 M5, and? M Coupe are forever left to be memories by us car enthusiasts.
    Slapping M badges on every model is ridiculous.
    The M535i was a precursor to the M5. It was not ran along beside it.
    Looks like I’ll be stuck driving used BMWs that represent a time when the brand was full of passion and pride.

  3. Anyway on a serious note the logic behind the m535i argument is ridiculous. The m535i was a precursor to the e28 M5, not an “extra option”. Further destroying the ///M reputation by adding a bunch of half assed tuned versions of the standard car is useless. Leave that to Hartge, ACS, Hamann and Alpina who know how to? do it right.

  11. @cj772g The BMW 1M is the first *proper* M car in years, a truly scintillating drivers’ car! The M division is all about the absolute ‘ultimate driving machine’ and the latest 1M and M5 are definitely that. The latest M5 might be a blown V8, rather than the N/A V10 of the E6x, but it’s a far superior car to drive – far? better connected, far more torque, far more direct. People forget the original BMW M cars were all high-revving 4 pots, not V10s!

  12. We all knew this day was coming the moment the X5/6 M was released. Then the engine choice for the 1 series M coupe happened. The fate was sealed. Here we go with the official dilution of the M brand with bespoke M engines no longer a part of the car. The M brand is dying. I found the video very depressing as it signifies the death of something I truly love. ?

  19. @doormagic yes but only a mercedes its nice in city traffic but a car like bmw you should drive with manual? shift! I own a e46 330i touring and its more the feeling! The feeling that YOU drive the car and not the car leads you. On Autobahn i always get wet when i shift down and pull forward then shift fast up to maximum speed… that is feeling :)
